Adictions In Control

Addictions are not something people pursue nor is it something that happens to everyone. There are people who for years have been regular drinkers of alcohol yet they're not alcoholics.
The same is true for most substance abuse. Why? The answer to that is not yet fully understood. What is known though that people who abuse substances can become addicted.

A truly addicted people are those who at some time during their experience step over the "unknown line" and are no longer in control but under control. An addict is a person who is controlled by the substance they they once controlled and even enjoyed.

You Must Decide

An addiction is much more than a habit. If you have a controllable habit then it's not an addiction. For example a person maybe a very heavy drinker and yet not be an alcoholic. One of the character traits of an addict is that to begin with they often refuse to believe or accept the fact that they are addicted. It's not at all uncommon for alcoholics to stop drinking for a time in an effort to prove to themselves and their loved ones that they are able to control there drinking. Sadly it often takes time spent at rock bottom before they accept the fact they no longer are in control.

There is no recovery from alcoholism until the person fully embraces the really that they are an alcoholic. You're the only one that can decide this for you. You need to be fully convinced of your personal need for help, help that is beyond yourself. Only then will help be properly received and implemented.

Spiritual Help

The Alcoholics Anonymous program fully embraces the need for spiritual help in their recovery program; "God as you Him". It's here that I want to point you to "God as I Know Him".

There are many addictions in life some of which are certainly more devastating than over nevertheless they have the power to control. Some people can't some lying others can't stop the fear of specific phobias. It's not just drugs and alcohol that seem to possess people. Some are addicts of pornography others of gambling. The list goes on. I firmly believe that at the root of all addictions is the fallen human nature. The nature all of us inherit when we are birthed into the human family. It's a nature so spiritually corrupted that we are unable to change it. Oh we can subdue it to some extent through fear of punishment but that doesn't remove the problem it only masks it somewhat.

Because it's what I believe with all my person I want to offer you the source of spiritual help that I have been experiencing for the past 34 years. It was when I turned to God that received help. I believe with all heart and it's been my personal experience that Jesus Christ is the One who set me free from an inner anger that was becoming increasing dangerous and uncontrollable, a rage that I was afraid of. When I called out to Jesus to forgive me of sins He reached and saved me. He showed compassion on a sinner and caused me to experience what it is to be "Born Again" by the power of God. What he did for me he will do forAct 2:21  And it shall be, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

You see Jesus did not come to condemn us but to help us. He didn't come to curse us but to save, heal and deliver us.  Jesus came: "to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;  to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor" (Isa.61:1,2 ESV)

Whatever it is that has you bond today you can be gloriously set free. You can be forgiven and completely set from from past sins. You can know the blessings of sins forgiven. You can be "Born Again" by the power of God as you take hold of Jesus hand, the one He has extended to you right now. Will you allow Jesus to help you? Will you allow Him to forgive and cleanse you? Will you let Him deliver and heal? He will if you let Him. He will come into your life right now if you will welcome Him.
